This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. Tibetan rugs are typically designed with geometric patterns both simple and complex. You may also see Tibetan rugs with a bold center or all-over medallion or even various designs that were influenced by decorative Asian motifs. The knot count per square inch for this rug is 200. This rug is made of 100-percent wool. The pile height is 0.50 inches. Colors include ivory salmon brown blue gold black and green.Story Behind the Art:The contemporary design of this particular rug originated in the mountainous areas of Tibet but is made in the Varanasi region of India by the Bhadohi village weavers. The wool of these rugs is provided by the local villagers. The weaving technique is hand-tufted which is a rug making process where weavers insert yarn into the rug backing with a hand held tufting gun to push and pull the threads through a pre-woven grid foundation. In a tufted rug the tops of the loops are sheared to expose the ends of the threads for a softer plusher pile. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful authentic handmade rugs to Worldstock for over 10 years. Worldstock has given us the opportunity to create jobs for over 2000 local village weavers which helps them to greatly support their families. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan Pakistan and India. As we grow with Worldstock we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.
